Here at Prosoft Engineering we stand by our products. We offer a free trial so that you can try your own attempt at data recovery using Data Rescue before you make a purchase. Unfortunately, sometimes a data loss scenario can be too far outside of the capabilities of software. Whether it’s a head failure, a bad PCB board, or a large amount of surface area corruption, there are times when you need a professional to help.
The amount of data being created and stored by users is constantly increasing, making a range of storage devices popular for use. As the amount of existing data grows, it becomes increasingly important to have a Mac utility tool to monitor, configure, and use these devices.
On September 30th, 2015, Apple released OS X 10.11 El Capitan, their newest version of OS X. This update included some new features as well as several improvements on the previous OS X, Yosemite. However at the same time, there were some features that have been removed that have affected Drive Genius. With the changes made, it appears that Apple focused on perfecting two main areas in the update, the user’s experience, and performance. Many of the improvements were geared towards giving users tools to efficiently complete everyday tasks.
Data loss from encryption ransomware is on the rise, and we see more and more cases each day. Some of the most prevalent forms of malware currently infecting user’s computers and causing data loss are variations of trojan horses known as ransomware. Ransomware is a type of malware that prevents the user from accessing their system or data in some form and demands payment to restore the access. Malware in the form of trojans can enter a system via downloaded file, email attachment, or any other vulnerability that allows access to the system.

Great Solutions for IT Pros
We currently offer a variety of software and hardware solutions catered towards IT professionals.
Data Rescue ONE
The Data Rescue ONE 1TB Professional is an all in one solution to data recovery that allows an unlimited amount of recovery allowance to the device, meaning it can be used by professionals to service many different machines in different locations. There is also a Professional version of Data Rescue 4 that allows for unlimited recovery, so this can be used at a workstation to recover from connected drives.
Hard Drive Wiping Tools
In addition to data recovery tools, we also offer a Professional Level Multi-Drive Wipe utility. MediaTools Wipe has several different licenses available, and maxes out at the ability to perform 18 simultaneous secure erases on drives. The software also provides wipe certificates.
Data Recovery Service
The Data Rescue Center works with drives that cannot be recovered using software, in most cases due to physical failure. Operating in a Cleanroom environment, technicians repair the drive to a workable state so that the data can be extracted to a healthy drive. This service, combined with our onsite software development team, allows us to evaluate and create custom solutions for any recovery scenario.
Recently it surfaced that these failing Seagate hard drives have been linked to a class-action suit filed against Seagate, alleging that their 3TB hard drives are much more prone to failure than advertised, with abnormally high failure rates in comparison to other manufacturers. If you have a failing Seagate hard drive you may want to investigate your options to getting your data back.
Hard drives have a limited lifespan
Regardless of which manufacturer, all hard drives do have an estimated life span and will inevitably fail. A failing Seagate hard drive is one of the main reasons that having a backup in place is so important. Software such as Prosoft Engineering’s Data Backup simplifies this process and makes it easy to maintain a regular backup, mitigating potential data loss.
Save your data with data recovery software
If you are unfortunate enough to have a hard drive begin to fail, the data can be recovered using data recovery software such as Data Rescue. Taking the failing hard drive and cloning the data from the first drive to a healthy second drive. Once the data is moved to this second drive, it can be scanned and recovered using Data Rescue recovery software. This process minimizes the time that the problem drive needs to be connected, preventing further damage.
Last option is a data recovery service
If the drive failure is more severe and physical damage has occurred software may not be sufficient and a recovery lab service such as The Data Rescue Center would be necessary to recover the data. In those situations, technicians will open the hard drive in a cleanroom environment to assess what parts may be failing. Donor parts are then transplanted in to get the drive repaired to the extent that the data can be extracted to another healthy drive.
Failing Seagate hard drive options
Whether you have a failing Seagate hard drive, or a drive from any other manufacturer, software from Prosoft Engineering and services from The Data Rescue Center can help recover your data fast, affordably and safely.
