In order to begin a scan in Data Rescue 3, it is required to have a Workspace (a secondary drive or a folder on a drive), which is used during a scan to store information found during the scan. Today I helped a customer in selecting a Workspace location that was best for his situation. He had accidentally deleted a folder containing some important financial documents from his Mac hard drive but was not sure what to use for a Workspace when he wanted to start his Deleted Files Scan in Data Rescue 3.  He was thrilled he was able to recover those important documents that he had previously deleted.
