Love the products. The ease of use and the peace of mind and confidence they bring. Customer service is fantastic. They dealt with my enquiries very swiftly and concisely. Lovely stuff. Big hug from London!
This product (Data Rescue) REALLY works!!! It will restore you files with their content and correct file name (most other software will not restore the file name which makes the whole process VERY PAINFUL).
And I was able to recover BIG files (+10GB) which is usually very difficult!
Love this software, highly recommended!
Bring it on! So glad to have the assurance that Data Rescue is at hand … you’ve saved more friendships than you know!
Deleted Files? No Worries! Data Rescue Is Your Perfect Companion!

On Sunday afternoon, following the Atlanta Falcons win over the Arizona Cardinals, I noticed that 3 of my compact flash cards were corrupting upon ingest. Once the discs were corrupted, they no longer showed any signs of being filled with data; it was as if they were cleanly formatted.
I am a deadline sports photographer for US Presswire, and it is critical that my images be available during the game and immediately following the game. Unfortunately, the solutions that I had with me at the time were not cooperating and appeared to be taking quite some time to process, if they were at all.
That evening after reading several reviews, I purchased Picture Rescue from Prosoft Engineering, and within 1 hour, I had recovered over 4 gigs worth of data in both RAW and JPEG formats. Picture Rescue displayed all of my recovered files in thumbnail view, and copying them to another folder was as simple as “select all” and “drag and drop.”
Much to my surprise, my RAW files were completely editable, as if they had never been lost.
There is no doubt that, while working on assignment, Picture Rescue will be with me at all times.
I recently purchased your software, Data Rescue PC. I must say it did just that. By mistake I had formatted my hard drive that contained my back up after my regular drive crashed. I was really in a panic and my wife wasn’t to happy! The back up contained all the pictures ever taken of my 3 daughters since birth. Needless to say it was priceless data (for us at least). I tried a software called recover my miles. Which came up in most search engines. Being that it had a 30 day Money GUARANTEE. I tried the demo version. It scan my drive (200g) and it took about 8 hours. However it saw all my files. I was amazed. So I purchased the key. Once I did and tried saving may data. I was only able to recover 2% (not really to much of a recovery). I tried their support which was unless. Just for the fact that they were based out of Australia. I think it’s like a 15 hr difference. So I kept searching and came across your product. I must admit I was hesitant after my experience with Recover my files. But I was desperate. I downloaded the demo, created the boot disk and it scanned my drive (200g) in an hour. I was amazed but since my past scan, I wasn’t yet happy. I started reading your manual and saw that files had a rating. All my files stated EXCELLENT. Yet I still wasn’t 100% positive. So I called your tech support and asked some questions. They were pretty confident in your product. So I purchased the key. Last night (6/23/05) I did the scan and selected to recover the files. This time I selected the only folder I really cared for. The recovery took about an hour, which was going to an external drive. Once it was done. I saved the scan and plugged the USB drive to my laptop. Once I opened the recovered folder. I almost CRIED when I saw ALL the pictures of my kids. It was midnight and had to go to sleep but I was so excited and wanted to keep recovering my data. ( I really couldn’t sleep that night). I must admit, I was about to call out sick just to recover the rest of my data (being that your product worked SO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!) I just wanted to share this experience with your team and say “THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!” I will definitely recommend your product! I have already contacted someone that could use your product (I read about her in a thread). I’m sure she will be ordering your product. Once again THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
I was able to recover all but nine files out of nearly 16,000 on a 100gb hard drive. Data Rescue really did the job! I was able to recover all but nine files out of nearly 16,000 on a 100gb hard drive. This drive contained virtually every game-action image from all of last season and the first half of this season. I shoot 100% digital, so these represented our entire archive. These photos are crucial to our team’s marketing and promotional efforts, and their recovery was imperative.
I first contacted several “data recovery services” and of those who would give me an estimate, they ranged in price from $500 to $3500. Looking for a more immediate and less expensive solution, I found Data Rescue via a web search. Data Rescue turned out to be not just effective, but a real bargain.
Thanks for saving the day!
Every once in a while a group of products come along that make you wonder how you managed your business without them.
Prosoft’s suite of tools including Picture Rescue and Data Rescue are an essential element of every digital photographer’s toolkit and I couldn’t live without them.
I was out in the Red Rock Valley of the Nevada desert researching material and facts for a new children’s book I am rewriting, Got some great photos of the California and the Spanish trails. Got useable facts on Jim Beckwourth a mountain man that blazed many trails into California from Nevada and helped many pioneers find their way to their new settlements. Anyway… Photos and more photos almost four 512 cards worth of research photos were taken in one afternoon. The day was perfect and everything I needed I got. It was a great day!
The vacation /work holiday was over and I was anxious to get back. I downloaded my shots into my laptop, being careful to make sure they were in a secure folder for safekeeping. I took more shots and more shots. Vegas is a photogenic place after all. But duty called and I had to get back to get these research photos burned to CD which was located 700 miles away in my office.
Everything went well drive was smooth; car ran great, even found a decent radio station that stayed with us the entire way. All was well with the world until it was time to unpack. In trying to grab way too much stuff I dropped my camera on the cold concrete floor of my garage. Instantly I dropped everything else and snatched up the camera in hopes that I did not do major damage to it.
I ran inside to download the newest shots and found that my card had become scrambled. That’s just great! I thought. The best shots and now they are scrambled eggs. I thought not all is lost I still have my photos that are on the laptop. I thought I was safe into a download to my main machine until the laptop took a dive and I lost the laptop hard drive. My heart sank to my feet.
After a day of wondering how I was going to save this work. I knew there was a magical way to recover this work but where was it. I finally remembered after a day of feeling absolutely crushed, that I had a program called data rescue by Pro Soft and set that to work. I was able to recover majority of photos on the drive and I even got my drive back. But the photos that were the most important were seemingly gone. Disappeared into the ether, never to be seen again. I really messed up.
I suddenly remembered an article in my Mac User group newsletter about ProSofts newest program Picture Rescue. This has got to work I thought.
I called them straight away and realizing it was fifteen to five at the end of what was sure to be their go home time, I got a real person! Wow! I was excited to hear a human on the other side I almost forgot why I had called. I immediately ordered Picture Rescue after a few questions on accuracy and reliability and paid for it on the spot. I was able to download the program and they emailed my serial number right then.
It was so easy to use. I plugged it in and followed the simple directions and watched as this miracle recovery app bring back my photos. Some I had found had become corrupted because of my dropping my camera (never do that by the way, it is not good for the heart).
I was able to choose which ones were still useable and which had become so bad from the drop very simply. It made my life easy to deal with again. Ask any one in my family. Writers are a temperamental
First of all…thanks, your product saved my butt. Second – just wanted to report that the version I used DID WORK on a Xserve RAID – level 5 – 860gb.
RAID set was there, but no volume/needed initialization. Even though your documentation dismissed that option…I had nothing to lose by trying, and it worked!!
I was able to recognize and recover the ENTIRE raid – of about 650,000 files- only about 600 reported some corruption. I was surprised, as the documentation stated that RAID support was not feature that the product performed. After many hours of thourough searching my RAID, I was able to see and recover files – changing the program pref so that “ignore paritions” was checked and unchecking “log extra inf to report” gave the best result. (5 hours scan for first time…failed saying too many files, changed prefs and tried again—last effort, last hope before chalking up the loss and re-initializing…5 hours later I had a good scan and was able to offload files to some FW disks, reinitialize, and copy files back)
Took all of my weekend, but great results. Of the files that reported corruption, the ONLY common thing that I could find was the bad files were all pre-tagged with the OSX finder labels (normally I don’t use them…but sometimes…..) – they (the labels) seemed to somehow render the file as bad when recovered.
Thanks so much!!!
TOP of my disk utils now – and recommended to as many folk as I can now
Using the Prosoft tools got me back to where I wanted to be fairly painlessly. I am glad I have these tools in my utility arsenal and I would urge you to buy them as well. Believe me, hard drives die. Sooner or later you will face what I just went through. I hope it isn’t your main HD that fails with all of your irreplaceable pictures, movies and music. However, if it does, and it’s not mechanically dead, you’ll be very happy you have Data Rescue II to recover your stuff. Data Rescue II comes on a disk so you can start up from it if your main drive has failed.

Thanks for making great software…
Data Rescue 3 saved the day. I was editing image files for an upcoming exhibit when my 500 gig hard drive with all project files on it failed. Timing is everything. Thanks to Data Rescue 3, I was up and running with a substantial recovery in 24 hours and am able to finish my prints without being stressed to the max. It is such a relief to be able to handle disk recovery on a matter of fact basis and not face a crisis with no timely recourse. I’m a fan and very grateful for this solid software!
The pictures were stored on a PNY 2GB Flash drive (it had a FAT16 format). The Mac OS saw & mounted the flash drive, and even showed the folder. Sadly, that was ALL that the OS could do. Attempts to copy failed, Disk Utility was useless, and even Data Rescue II (version 1.1) was no help.
So began the quest for ANYTHING that could recover the photos (Mom, Granny & the newborn … pretty important stuff).Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery found nothing. We skipped Disk Warrior (we didn’t want to modify the drive, possibly making it worse!), and Norton has been a disaster since version 4.2.
Normally I’d give up if Data Rescue failed. But while checking the FAQ’s & Support, I found Picture Rescue! After downloading & running the demo, the 434 irreplaceable photos were back (almost)! Buying/activating the program could not have been easier, and within 5 minutes the photos were safely recovered.
Thanks again for the great recovery products!
First, I don’t write to companies about products because it takes time and energy that I am usuallly unwilling to give up.
But in this case, I have to write about my experience with Data Rescue II.
I have a PowerMac G5 with a 250 gig hard drive. I have clocked thousands of hours on this machine since I purchased it when it was first released about five years ago.
I have never backed up my hard drive, in spite of knowing the statistical probability of failure. The Mac has a way of luring you to believe that it “just won’t happen to me” After all, it’s made by Apple, the Gods of Personal Technology.
Well, over the years I collected over 8000 digital photos and was in the process of converting another 3000 slides to digital format.
I shut down my Mac on Wednesday evening—everything normal; business as usual.
Thursday morning I booted my G5 and it crashed at the login screen. Uh Oh. Tried to reboot and for the first time in 23 years of working with Apple products, I saw the Blue Folder of Death. You know, the one which indicates it can’t find a bootable drive.
I thought. Software corruption. I’ll just boot from the system install DVD and repair it with Disk Utilities.
Immediately upon clicking on Verify Disk, I received a B-Tree error (whatever that means) and Disk Utilities was unable to proceed further. However, Disk Utilities could see the drive.
I ran Disk Warrior—for 14 hours—and it stalled on step 5.
I was sick at my stomach and I certainly couldn’t afford the $3000 fee quoted by a data recovery company. Heck, I could buy a new Mac Pro for that much.
So, I called a friend of mine who is a bit on the techy side and he recommended(had just purchased) Data Rescue II. He formally did Desktop support for Apple and he told me not to give up hope. He said that being able to see the drive was a good thing and he believed that we would probably be able to recover the data.
So, he brought over a Bootable Hard Drive, rebooted my PowerMac and launched Data Rescue II. He started QuickScan, which the manual indicates should run in a few minutes … UNLESS THERE IS A HARDWARE PROBLEM.
9 hours later, Data Rescue completed scanning the drive and I was able to recover all of my data. UNBELIEVABLE.
This data represents thousands of hours of work to me and I am an absolute believer in Data Rescue II.
I am now also a believer in backing up my hard drive, in spite of the Macintosh Lorelei.
GREAT PRODUCT and the interface is nice too.
