Drive Genius 3 - System Requirements

Drive Genius 3 Requires an Intel Processor-based Mac

  • Mac OS 10.5.3+ / 10.6 / 10.7
  • 512 MB RAM Minimum
  • Intel® Processor
  • DVD drive

Drive Genius 3 ships on a bootable DVD created with from the latest Boot DDK from Apple. The current DDK does not support the following Macs:


  • MacBook Pro - Released in October 2011
  • MacBook Air - Released in July 2011
  • Mac Mini - Released in July 2011

For customers with these machines, you may use alternative booting methods A or B in the list below.

1. Drive Genius 3 can be installed on your operating system and run as a normal application

Drive Genius 3 is a diverse utility that gives you different levels of access to maintain, manage, and optimize your hard drive. When launching Drive Genius 3 from the applications folder, you can use all the features on a secondary or external hard drive; nonetheless, features such as Defrag, DrivePulse®, DriveSlim™, Verify, Shred Free Space are all available to be used on your boot drive.

2. You can run Drive Genius 3 from a secondary boot device

To use an external or secondary hard drive with an operating system on it, simply install Drive Genius 3 on that bootable hard drive and launch it from the applications folder. This will allow your main "Mac HD" volume to be un-mounted and all features accessible.


Please select one of the three boot options for further information:

  1. Booting from a secondary hard drive with OS X installed on it
  2. Booting from a USB thumb drive
  3. Booting from the Drive Genius 3 DVD

 

You will have two downloads in your emailed receipt upon purchase. One is the application and the other is the full boot DVD image (so you can burn your own bootable DVD right in your home or office).
