Prosoft Engineering Introduces NetWare Client for
Mac OS X - IP Edition, for OS X 10.2
Pleasanton, CA - September 19, 2002 - Prosoft Engineering, a leader in
developing high-end software solutions, announces the release of
NetWare Client for Mac OS X - IP Edition, version 1.0.3, allowing
Apple's OS X operating system to connect to a Novell IP-based network.
This NetWare Client runs on Apple OS X 10.0 to 10.2 (Jaguar).
"With native NCP protocol, Netware is able to support features that
native Apple Talk solutions can't use," says Connie Worthington,
Prosoft's VP of product development. "Not only does this product
eliminate administrative intervention time, but it's more secure than
other products."
NetWare Client for Mac OS X - IP Edition allows users to authenticate
and use NetWare natively using the IP protocol, eliminating the need
to propagate AppleTalk on your local area network. Client machines
need only the IP protocol to access the Internet and local network
services.
Features include:
- Native NCP file handling
- NDS browsing for finding and authenticating to NetWare servers
- Support for NSS volumes, provides for file sizes of up to
8-terabytes, and allows billions of volumes and directories
- RSA Secure Login - Using NDS, the client application uses industry
standard "Genuine RSA Encryption" to ensure login authentication
NetWare Client for Mac OS X - IP Edition works without having to
install additional software on existing NetWare 5 and 6 servers,
reducing or eliminating administrator intervention.
