Data Recovery Software

I finally got around to installing the Data Rescue II. I ran it on the Maxtor 150GB external drive that bit the dust 3-4 weeks ago.

I had already run Norton Disk Doctor and TechTool Pro both of which produced poor results. NDD was able to recover 20% of the data with file names intact. TT Pro recovered nothing. Neither was able mount or fix the drive.

I ran Data Rescue II's "Thorough Scan" and was able to recover 75%-80% of the data, about 50% with file names intact. The remaining data was recovered and can be opened, but because files were given generic file names and categorically recovered by file type, I will need to open and resave each document in order to re-file them correctly. I'm not sure that I'll save any time, but I'm absolutely positive it won't be as frustrating as rebuilding documents.

That said, I'm glad to have discovered ProSoft and your Data-Saving software DataRescue II. I have already spread the word within my circle, god forbid they need it - but if they do they're sure not to waste time with the competition.

My Conclusion: DataRescue II was worth every penny spent for every byte recovered! God Bless ProSoft Engineers!
