Crashed Mac and Windows Blue Screen of Death

Windows Blue Screen of Death

Imagine, if you will, this all too common scenario. A home- or small-business owner comes into her office, starts up the computer and fixes a cup of coffee while it boots up. Returning to the office, she does not find a machine that is booted up, ready to rock and roll, but is greeted by the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, or BSOD. White text on a blue background signals major trouble ahead. The slowly blinking, annoying cursor taunts the owner, as if saying, “You just thought you were going to get some work done!”

It is probably safe to say that most people reading this do not have any plan of action in place to cover such an event. When our PCs or Macs run perfectly – and they usually do – we find ourselves lulled into a false sense of security. Suddenly faced with this doomsday scenario, we fall into a panic, brows sweating and bodies trembling. Well, maybe it’s not that dramatic, but there is certainly a feeling of helplessness. We wonder what we can do to remedy the situation.
